Matt Thomas, Ag Arts Teacher

Born and raised in Colorado Springs, Matt feels a deep connection to the Pikes Peak region.  He grew up hunting, fishing, and exploring the Central Rockies, as well as many of the National Parks the West has to offer.  While attending school at Colorado State University, Matt worked as a wildlife rehabilitation assistant, and spent most of his summers conducting wildlife biology fieldwork for the United States Geological Survey and United States Fish and Wildlife Survey. After graduating with a degree in Wildlife Biology, Matt worked in Meeker, Colorado, as well as Milnesand, New Mexico studying upland game birds like the Greater Sage Grouse and Lesser Prairie Chicken.  After a few seasons of field work, Matt shifted into environmental education and has been teaching since 2014.  Matt has been fortunate enough to work for organizations like the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies in Aspen, CO, Teton Science School in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, and Nature Bridge in Yosemite National Parks.  Matt has presented about environmental education at multiple conferences throughout Colorado, as well as helped create foundational curriculum for the National Environmental Science Center in Yosemite, National Park.
