Kindergarten Mentor
The Kindergarten Mentor supports Mountain Song Community School's three early childhood classrooms through regular observation, pedagogical mentorship, and professional guidance grounded in Waldorf educational philosophy. Working with the Kindergarten team on a weekly to bi-weekly basis, the Mentor provides constructive feedback, pedagogical direction, and support designed to strengthen individual practice and the shared knowledge of the Early Childhood department. The Mentor will also develop a clear observation and mentorship structure and work in partnership with the Director of Education to support staff growth, retention, and the strength of the Kindergarten program.
Social Emotional Learning Assistant
The Social Emotional Learning Assistant (SEL Assistant) is a key member of the Mountain Song Community School student support team, providing targeted social, emotional, and behavioral support to students in grades K–8. Working under the guidance and supervision of the licensed School Counselor, this position primarily facilitates small-group social/emotional skill-building interventions for students identified through the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework as needing Tier 2 support.
The SEL Assistant implements developmentally appropriate lessons and interventions designed by or in collaboration with the School Counselor, monitors student participation and progress, and communicates regularly with the School Counselor regarding student needs and outcomes. This role supports the development of students' social-emotional skills while aligning with MSCS's Waldorf-inspired approach and commitment to the development of the whole child.
Special Education Teaching Assistant
The Special Education Teaching Assistant is responsible for working under the supervision of the licensed Special Education Teachers to help address the diverse learning needs of students in the Special Education Department. This role involves teaching core academics in a small group setting, supporting students in their general education classrooms, and helping to foster social/emotional growth in all students. All work is done in alignment with Waldorf education principles.
Permanent Substitute Teacher
Mountain Song Community School is a Waldorf-inspired charter school committed to holistic education that nurtures the body, mind, and heart. The Permanent Substitute Teachers at MSCS support this mission by providing consistent, developmentally appropriate instruction and classroom management in the absence of lead teachers (K-8 Classroom, Special Subjects, or SPED), assistants, interventionists or paraprofessionals. Substitutes are essential members of our educational community, helping to maintain a stable and supportive learning environment. The substitute upholds the school’s Waldorf-inspired approach and provides consistent, developmentally appropriate learning experiences to ensure a supportive and engaging environment for students.
