Weather
Mountain Song Community School (MSCS) puts safety first during inclement weather. We do not automatically follow surrounding districts—MSCS makes decisions based on our community’s conditions, road safety, and whether our campus is accessible.

Inclement Weather FAQs
-
Weather decisions are made by MSCS’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT):
Director of Education
Director of Operations
Director of Student Services
When bad weather is forecasted, the ELT coordinates the night before and plans to meet the next morning to assess conditions.
Decision timeline
By 5:30 AM: ELT meets to review weather, transportation safety, and facility accessibility.
By 6:00 AM: MSCS communicates a final decision (delay or closure).
By 8:00 AM: If a delayed start was announced but conditions worsen, the ELT may decide to close for the day and will communicate that no later than 8:00 AM.
-
Two-Hour Delayed Start
School begins two hours later than normal, at 10:00 AM.
School Closure
If MSCS closes for the day, all on-campus activities are canceled, including before- and after-school programs, unless MSCS specifically announces otherwise.
Early Dismissal
If conditions worsen during the school day, the ELT monitors the situation and will communicate any early dismissal decision as soon as possible.
