Full Semester clubs are a great way to guarantee your child's participation in after-school programming throughout the entire first semester.

Poetry Club
(6th-8th Grade)

Description: Poetry is one of the ancient arts, and it begins as did all the fine arts, within the original wilderness of the earth. - Mary Oliver
Discover the depths of art, emotion, and language in Poetry Club! Students interested in the written word are invited to this inclusive space to write and share their work with others. This club will incorporate a variety of artistic mediums and explore multimedia approaches to poetry. Students will have the opportunity to participate in share circles, writing workshops, and a poetry slam event at the end of the session.

Description of Club: Need a place to unwind after school? Come join the Garden Hangout Club! This is a relaxed, outdoor space where you can finish homework, spend time with friends, and enjoy everything our school garden has to offer. Every afternoon is different because you choose how to spend your time. Work on homework, help water or weed the garden, dig and build in the dig pit, visit and care for the chickens, search for insects and other fascinating garden creatures, read a book, explore the garden, play nature-inspired games, or simply relax and enjoy being outdoors. Some days you'll jump into a project, and other days you may just want to sit under a tree and recharge. The Garden Hangout Club is student-directed, giving you the freedom to follow your interests, make your own choices, and enjoy unstructured time in nature. Whether you're eager to lend a hand in the garden, observe wildlife, connect with friends, or simply take a break after a busy school day, you'll find a welcoming place here. Join Ms. Goodwin and Mr. Kreger for an afternoon of fresh air, exploration, friendship, and the simple joy of spending time in the garden. We will be in the garden no matter the weather. Your child needs to be prepared for the weather, including heat, cold, rain, or snow. We want your child to be comfortable so they will enjoy club. If they are not dressed appropriately, they could be sent home.

Description of Club: Cozy club is meant for students in the younger grades to have access to a space that is calm, cozy, and filled with activities such as reading, drawing, tea, and lower stimulating indoor play. At each club, we will start with herbal or honey tea (honey and warm water). Then, students can spend the rest of their time choosing to read in the little classroom library, play with tabletop activities, or draw with crayons and paper. Other craft supplies are often available for creative use during this club.

Description of Club: Join Ms. Goodwin and Mr. Kreger for an afternoon of creativity, teamwork, and hands-on learning in the school garden! The Garden Guild Club is for students who enjoy building, creating, planting, and caring for the natural world. Together we'll work on meaningful garden projects that make our campus more beautiful and welcoming. Students will help plant flowers, vegetables, herbs, and trees; weed and care for garden beds; build birdhouses and bird feeders; create garden signs and decorations; and take on seasonal projects that support our chickens, pollinators, and wildlife. Each week brings new opportunities to learn practical skills, work with natural materials, solve real-world challenges, and leave a lasting mark on our school garden. Whether you're using a hammer, a paintbrush, a shovel, or simply your imagination, you'll be part of a team working together to grow something beautiful. Come get your hands dirty, discover new skills, make new friends, and become a steward of our school garden. The Garden Guild Club is where creativity, craftsmanship, and nature come together! Your child needs to be prepared for the weather, including heat, cold, rain, or snow. We want your child to be comfortable so they will enjoy club. If they are not dressed appropriately, they could be sent home.

Location: 2nd Grade Cedar Classroom
Description of Club: Join your fellow young thespians in putting on a holiday play for family and friends! We will play acting games, assemble props, costumes and set pieces, and rehearse and perform a play entitled "Too Many Santas," in which Gift Givers from around the world get together to decide who should take Santa's place when rumors start circulating that the dear old fellow is retiring. This is a great chance to practice stagecraft and acting while finding out about interesting holiday traditions in other countries. Ms. Grian studied Theater Arts in undergraduate school and was the co-founder of the Paonia Children's Theater, for which she originally wrote and directed this play. Drama club gives children the opportunity to work on a common goal in a mixed-age group while having a ton of fun.

Description of Club: Fiber Arts Club will include opportunities for students to create personal projects using materials such as yarn, wool (needle felting materials available), felt & fabric for sewing, and more. This club is geared toward students who feel comfortable independently crafting or crafting with a friend.

Description of Club: Calling all Pokémon trainers, Magic players, and trading card enthusiasts! Trading Card Club is open to students in 3rd–8th grade and will be a relaxed, social space to learn, play, trade, and share a love of trading card games. Students will have opportunities to play Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon, learn game strategies and rules, build their collections, and connect with other students who enjoy cards. No previous experience is necessary—beginners are welcome!

Description of Club: Build, create, and let your imagination run wild! LEGO Club is a hands-on after-school club where students can design their own creations, take on building challenges, experiment with different ideas, and enjoy plenty of open-ended building time. Whether your child is a master builder or simply loves to build, LEGO Club is a place to create, problem-solve, collaborate, and have fun with friends.
