Michael Katzenbert, Special Education Teacher
Michael Katzenberg is the middle school special education teacher. In 2000, he began teaching special education Spanish and English at a high school in Chicago, and later taught science as well as language arts, literacy, and math in Hawaii, Florida, and Colorado.
Being aware of the value of Waldorf education for special needs students, he has supported Mountain Song as a member of the committee that wrote the special education section of the charter application, by testifyong at the application hearing before the D-11 Board, and working with the Charter School Institute of Colorado after they accepted Mountain Song’s charter. His strong desire to support Mountain Song Community School led him to serve on the Board of Directors as well as on the School Accountability Committee (SAC) before becoming a teacher at the school in 2019.
Both of his children have attended Mountain Song, and his daughter graduated in 2020 as a member of the first class to move from first to eighth grade.
