VICE PRESIDENT - apfalz@mountainsongschool.org
Originally from Kentucky, I landed in Colorado in 2003 and have been here ever since. I attended UCCS, where I received my B.A. in psychology, then went on to attend their graduate program in experimental psychology. It was there that I developed a passion for research, focusing on aging’s effects on language production, along with psychology and law. University also gave me the opportunity to teach research methods, which I enjoyed immensely. After college, I went on to work with the Defense and Veterans’ Brain Injury Center as a research associate, researching different treatment modalities for soldiers who had suffered TBIs.
I have three children, two of which (River and Max) are at Mountain Song. We've been at the school since 2018 and my children are extremely happy here. The school’s focus on the whole child, and Waldorf’s understanding of child development made it a perfect fit for my children's needs. Additionally, the inclusion of handwork really spoke to my artistic spirit! Since joining the school, we have found an amazing community that I call our school family. It has been great, not only for my kids, but also for myself.
I feel very strongly about community support and involvement at Mountain Song, and I do everything I can to help out and try to encourage others to join in. Among other things, I assist with the Family Engagement Committee and Parent Circle, which are excellent places to get your feet wet. Please feel free to approach me any time if you have questions about getting involved!
