Michelle Gates, Librarian, Gifted and Talented Teacher
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education (birth through 3rd grade) and brings over 26 years of teaching and leadership experience to Mountain Song Community School. Her career spans a wide range of roles in early childhood and elementary education, including teaching 3rd grade, 4th grade, Pre-K, and Kindergarten, as well as directing Early Childhood Programs for 8 years at an independent PreK-12th Grade school. Michelle’s diverse experience in the classroom and as a program director has given her a deep understanding of child development, curriculum design, and the importance of nurturing the whole child. She is passionate about creating engaging, hands-on learning environments that inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning in children. Michelle values building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues, fostering a supportive community where each child’s unique strengths can flourish. She is excited to bring her wealth of experience to Mountain Song, where she looks forward to continuing to support young learners on their life journeys. When she is not in the classroom, Michelle enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Dan and their two children. She enjoys reading, hiking, biking, camping, traveling.
